Attorney Fred W. Devore III Recognized on the 2024 Power List of Personal Injury Attorneys by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly

For the second year in a row, Fred W. DeVore, III, has been recognized by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly in their annual Power List of Personal Injury Attorneys.

Nominations to the list are made by the attorneys across the state.  The criteria for selection include:

  • A lawyer who is an expert in his or her field, well-versed in the nuances of the case law, statutes and regulations clients will encounter.
  • A lawyer who is experienced and enjoys a record of success, with many cases and/or transactions that give testimony to the quality advice he or she can provide.
  • A lawyer to whom other lawyers make referrals because of his or her expertise and accomplishments.
  • A lawyer who models professionalism and collegiality in his or her interactions with other members of the legal system.
  • A lawyer who can think creatively and identify all options for a client.
  • A lawyer you would name when a friend from another state calls and says she has a client who needs some legal help in a given part of our state.
  • A lawyer you might call yourself if you needed legal help in his or her field.

As the founding partner at DeVore, Acton & Stafford in Charlotte, Fred DeVore believes attorneys are service professionals who help people through catastrophic injuries and life-changing losses.

“I like to help my clients shoulder unexpected and sudden tragedies they face,” he says. “Most times they are lost and confused about how to process such a loss, and I enjoy providing that service to them.”

While DeVore appreciates having the ability to stand up for his clients, his greatest reward comes from knowing that, when their cases are over, he has accomplished a result that they could not have accomplished alone.

“Their gratitude is a humbling experience,” he says.

Strong and compassionate advocacy for his clients is a hallmark of his practice, and DeVore also believes demonstrating respect towards opposing counsel is the key to success.

“This means treating the other attorneys as you would want to be treated,” he says. “I call it the ‘Golden Rule of Advocacy.’”*
